At the WITNESS User Conference on Tuesday four UK Universities presented and were recognised for the excellence of their project work and research using WITNESS. It gave me great pleasure to host the academic showcase and hear from the University of Exeter, the University of Greenwich, the University of Sheffield and Loughborough University. Look out for more information on all these presentations soon as we share their stories.
As a taster, the presentation from the University of Greenwich involved tracking energy usage at Ford. Joel Wilson presented the current status of his PhD project work and is pictured below with his WITNESS achievement award and (left to right) Dr Alan Arokiam and Sadia Hamid from the University of Greenwich, John Ladbrook from the project sponsor Ford Motor Company and Tony Waller from Lanner. The project looks in detail at the power used in production areas in high detail – often on a second by second basis. In this way very accurate pictures of usage spikes can be identified leading to effective management and control.
