A Look Back at Lanner in 2014

David Jones, Lanner CEO, wishes everyone a happy holiday and takes a look back at 2014 and the future of Lanner in 2015

Once again another year is nearly over and I hope you have all had a prosperous and successful 2014. Lanner has had a good year with excellent progress in a number of very relevant and important areas of industry and technology.

The adoption of simulation is growing and I am starting to see an inflection point in the level of usage, with greater access to the benefits of simulation being achieved by many more customers and partners. Methods of deployment and usage of simulation are wider now than ever before as simulation and its approach becomes main stream in business. This is helped by simulation-driven, decision support applications for industry, and the power that High Performance Computing (HPC) and the Cloud brings to that deployment and speed to answers. Our Cloud services business is starting to gain momentum. The growth of the analytics sector, and the role that simulation can play, is a key element in supporting better planning and prediction in all of the industries in which we operate.

I am really excited to see how the new WITNESS 14 will be used over the coming months. Lanner, in its partnership with world leading visualisation specialist Virtalis (www.virtalis.com), is now the only simulation player that can offer 3D modelling that can scale up to a fully immersive environment with the same 3D software platform. This is truly a case of 1 (Lanner) and 1 (Virtalis) together, equalling 3(D).

Our engagement with major global customers, such as Ford, Rolls Royce and BAE Systems, goes from strength to strength, with these customers increasing their adoption and usage of our methods and technologies for process improvement and better decision making. Further investment in our industry and vertical sector solutions has helped us to develop a much stronger presence in these markets, and to drive new relationships with domain specialists around the world in the oil and gas, healthcare and finance sectors. The upsurge in the automotive industry and the best car export figures in 2014 for the UK for decades has helped us reenergise our automotive activities through the OEM’s and their suppliers.

Lanner is looking forward to 2015 with a new energy and drive to continue the development of our business and the way our customers benefit from working with us, our people and our technologies.
