Lanner has developed a set of learning materials to support users through their use of WITNESS. They are organised like a target - new users starting in the centre and moving through to become experts by the time users reach the outside. Materials are organised as self-paced learning and available online, with the exception of the 4 day tutor based training.

The latest revision of the advanced learning materials is available online via the MyLanner portal (search in solutions for: Advanced WITNESS training materials) and the new 'Getting Started' guide is delivered with each WITNESS download/CD. Teacher led Lanner Certified Practitioner 4 day training courses can be booked online at: www.lanner.com/en/training-courses.cfm

Numerous Improvements and Fixes

We have also listened to your input and taken the opportunity to tidy up / improve items that you feel cause you unnecessary work. This is an ongoing task, which we will continue to pursue.

Along with product enhancements and new developments, we aim to delight you with a comprehensive set of new help and learning tools. Hence the theme 'Power with Ease'.

Thinking Behind Quick3D

Users tell us they value the ability of WITNESS to address a wide range of simulation problems and certain types of models benefit from 3D visualisation and animation. However; speaking to users with experience of using 3D only simulation modelling approaches, they tell us working totally in 3D becomes clumsy as the complexity of the model increases, requiring increasing energy to organise and check the 3D orientation.

The WITNESS layout window enables users to focus on quickly building a valid simulation model. Quick3D has been developed to enable users to rapidly have a 3D view of those parts of the model they wish to see animated. It's both quick and simply, 2D shapes used whilst developing the model are, with a click, mapped to complex 3D shapes for visualisation. For users with WITNESS VR, Quick 3D models can be easily placed within prebuilt 3D models of factories or buildings. It is easy, for example, to introduce and visualise various production layout simulations into a common factory building.

We feel providing our users the best of both 2D and 3D is the smart way forward.
