Welcome to the first issue of Lannerwire for 2009
May I start by thanking you for your business in 2008 and offering you my best wishes for the New Year. Whilst these are difficult economic times, I believe that with our extended joint skills, unique simulation technology and the breadth of experience that we have together as customers and supplier we can combine well in this current climate to help organisations make the right decisions, whether it be in securing necessary savings, improving efficiency and/or managing change.
Since the holiday period, we have polled a number of our customers. We are pleased with the large numbers that find increasing value in investing in their simulation skills and products at this time and see the value both in attending the User Conference in Birmingham on the 3rd/4th March 2009 and benefiting from the associated Upgrade Training sessions. At this one event you can engage with your peers, hear relevant technical papers, get free training and see our latest efforts with the first public showing of the new WITNESS 'Power with Ease' release.
As well as new product capabilities, we are continuing to work on delivering further value to our customers through our learning and support services. At the User Conference, we will also be announcing a course of new learning materials and for those attending, the added bonus to receive further advanced self guided learning content at the event. For those of you who cannot wait for March to learn more, we have included a great new guide on tips for speeding up your simulation model within this first newsletter of 2009.
Best wishes
David Jones

User Conference: Think Witness 2009
The preparations for the user conference; ThinkWITNESS 2009 are gathering speed, however we do need you to register as soon as possible so that we can ensure the correct detailed arrangements are in place. The event is at the Millennium Point ThinkTank museum in Birmingham and delegates do get free access to the museum itself.
This year we have a strong array of experienced speakers, representative of the broad range of Lanner customers, including;
David Fitzgerald of West Yorkshire Police, speaking about a major review of Custody facilities in their area underpinned by simulation, and also Colin Smith & Alf Ferguson of Persides who will be explaining how simulation is used to support ‘whole life’ procurement decisions in the Defence industry. In addition we are hoping to have a speaker from one of our customers in Japan.
Again, can I encourage you to meet us at ThinkWITNESS 2009, please register or contact us if you need any more information to support your visit. We will be emailing comprehensive details of the event in February to all those registered.

I am looking forward to seeing you at the Thinktank Birmingham on March 4th.
